Thinking point

Your contract of employment or job description might indicate the number of hours that you have been employed to work.

How else might you be able to demonstrate your practice hours?

The NMC has devised a practice log template to record practice hours, which can be accessed at: http://www.nmc.org.uk/standards/revalidation/revalidation-guidance-and-resources/

Information point

If you have practised for fewer than the required number of hours in the three year period since your registration was last renewed, then you must successfully complete an appropriate return to practice programme approved by the NMC before the date of your application for renewal of registration.

Further information can be found at:  http://www.nmc.org.uk/registration/returning-to-the-register/

The practice hours requirements have been designed to help nurses and midwives maintain safe and effective practice and to keep their skills updated.
