5. REFLECTIVE DISCUSSION

The reflective discussion element of the process requires you to:

  • Have a conversation with an NMC registrant about your five written reflective accounts on CPD and/or practice related feedback and/or an event or experience in your practice and how it relates to The Code.
  • Ensure the registrant signs the approved form recording his/her name, NMC PIN and email address, including the date of the discussion.

The conversation will normally be a one-to-one, face-to-face meeting. It gives you the opportunity to reflect on all of the evidence you have collected and relate it to your role as a registrant and The Code.

Case Study: Lorraine

Lorraine works for a single-handed practice and has thought hard about who her reflective discussion could be with.  These are the registrants she considers:

  • A colleague from  the local Practice Network
  • The Manager from a local Care Home who is a Registered Nurse
  • The District Nurse who visits the Practice regularly
  • The Liaison Tutor who supports students allocated to Lorraine’s Practice.
