NHSE Hygiene Preceptorship for Dental Hygienists
We are excited to introduce a practice placement for Dental Hygienists with placements commencing in January 2024.
The placement is for one day per week per hygienist over a maximum period of 6 months. This includes 105 clinical hours (15 days in total, 7 hours per week) in practice or on outreach schemes and attendance to 4 additional paid study days . The hygienist will provide non-surgical periodontal therapy for NHS patients in primary care, and there will be approved outreach schemes towards the end of the preceptorship.
Attendance on all 4 study days is mandatory.
The placement in practice will be facilitated via WT&E NHSE funding to accommodate a dental therapist over a 6-month period. This funding will be:
- Hygienist Remuneration £2700 (total for 19 days on self-employed basis)
- Practice Costs £800
- Trainer Grant £300
- Completion of Evaluation and Data Collection – payable to hygienist on completion £50
