Miss Celia Theodoreli-Riga is the Head of the London Specialty School of Surgery and is responsible for the quality of surgical training in London. Celia is a Vascular Surgeon and a Clinical Senior Lecturer at Imperial College, clinically practising at St Mary’s and Charing Cross Hospitals. She previously served as the STC Chair and Training Programme Director for Vascular Surgery. Her clinical and research interests focus on innovative techniques for the treatment of aortic, arterial and venous disease. She has significant experience in Medtech and clinical translation of healthcare technologies. She has an international reputation as a speaker with over 300 podium presentations, over 100 peer-reviewed publications and book chapters. Celia has been a keen advocate for education and surgical trainees. She remains committed to applying principles of safety and quality towards the development of high-performing surgical teams. Surgery has more than 1500 trainees and offers programmes at prestigious teaching centres across the capital. 

Deputy Head of School

Mr Dominic Nielsen is the Deputy Head of the London Postgraduate School of Surgery. Mr Nielsen is a consultant orthopaedic surgeon at St George’s Hospital in London. His clinical interests are foot and ankle surgery and complex lower limb trauma. He is a keen advocate of surgical education and was previously the Training Programme Director for Higher Orthopaedics in South London.

Vision

The School of Surgery has more than 1500 trainees and offers programmes at prestigious teaching centres across the London region for Core surgery, General surgery, Trauma & Orthopaedics, ENT, Urology, Oral & maxillofacial surgery, Paediatrics surgery, Plastic surgery, Neurosurgery, Vascular surgery and Cardiothoracic surgery.  The School is committed to promoting high-quality education that stays reactive to the changing healthcare needs for all surgical disciplines. We support the effective implementation of the new surgical curricula to produce competent surgeons of the highest standards leading nationally and internationally.
